Liverpool fans will be pleased with the Coutinho injury update

According to two respected Liverpool correspondents, Paul Joyce and Chris Bascombe, Coutinho hasn’t broken anything – but did leave Anfield on crutches this evening.

Our Brazilian sensation left the pitch in tears and on a stretcher in the first-half following a clash with Sunderland’s Ndong, and fans naturally feared the worst.

He received a standing ovation as he exited, but there was a distinct feeling that the no.10 had done some nasty damage, as backed up by an image of the injury which went viral.

While it’s positive that nothing seems to be broken, Coutinho might still have damaged ligaments, which can sometimes keep players out for just as long.

Now, the player, the club and the supporters face a nervy wait to see how long we’re likely to be without our talisman.

In his place, the likes of Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge will need to step up. Thankfully, the Belgian did so today and helped us defeat the Black Cats 2-0 with an expertly taken goal.
