Trying to focus on the positives from today’s disappointing 4-3 loss to Bournemouth is a difficult task but it is something that has to be done.
There’s no point in continuing to discuss the negatives, especially given how impressive the players have been for the majority of the season so far.
Winning every game this season would have been a miracle. It was never going to happen, especially in such an unpredictable league. It’s about how we respond now.
Emre Can’s silky finish put the Reds 3-1 up in the second half and, in addition to his performance, was a positive worthy of some recognition.
It was a beautifully curled and controlled strike from the German and a demonstration of him developing as a player.
His desire to contribute to the team in an attacking sense has been no secret since he won back his place in the starting eleven and today was an example of him making even more progress.
It should have been game over when Can restored his side’s two goal lead after Callum Wilson’s penalty, but it clearly wasn’t to be.
Here’s a look back at how fans reacted when the 22-year-old’s stunning effort found the back of the net.
