Irritated Dortmund give Liverpool another strict warning

Liverpool’s chances of signing Borussia Dortmund’s American prodigy Christian Pulisic appear slim to zero, even if he remains Jurgen Klopp’s number one target for January.

The 18-year-old playmaker is phenomenally talented and has been a regular for the Germans under Thomas Tuchel this term, despite the fact he’s competing with Marco Reus, Andre Schurrle, Mario Gotze, Ousmane Dembele and others for game time.

A few weeks back, sporting director Michael Zorc issued us with a hands off warning, but following further speculation that FSG would move heaven and earth to get an American to Liverpool, he’s done it again – but with slightly more venom.

“We have communicated very clearly that we won’t sell Christian, and that he’s very much part of our plans,” Zorc told Bild on Tuesday. “Liverpool don’t need to waste their time.”

Klopp wants offensive reinforcements this winter, due to our current situation with injuries and the fact we’re losing Sadio Mane to the AFCON.

Against West Ham on Sunday, Ben Woodburn was our only attacking option from the bench, which definitely suggests a problem coming into this busy festive period.

If Pulisic really is a no go, it’ll be interesting to see who we go for instead.
