These quotes from Coutinho are just awesome.
Last night, the Brazilian signed a five contract extension with wages of around £150k-per-week, which makes him our second highest paid player of all time behind Luis Suarez.
At 24-years-old, this will hopefully tie Coutinho to the club for the best years of his career.
Since Jurgen Klopp took charge, Coutinho has emerged as our talisman, and although he’s been injured for a large part of this campaign, he’s going to be crucial from now until the end of the season.
According to our magical no.10, the brilliant support given to him by the fans is the main reason for him agreeing to extend his deal, despite the interest of Barcelona and PSG.
He told Liverpoolfc.com: “Ever since my arrival here, I was welcomed with open arms by the supporters – and everyone at this football club.
“This is an important factor that carries weight when you decide to remain here for a longer period – and this did have a lot of weight when I thought about the renewal of my contract.
“I can only thank every supporter for their faith in me. I really hope to repay them. I will do my very best on the pitch to create assists for my teammates and score goals for us to try and win trophies and titles.
“It’s not just me – since me and my family arrived here we have been welcomed with open arms by everyone. We feel at home in this city, we feel a part of this city. It is a very important day for me, my wife and my daughter. I am happy – and everyone is happy at home!”
While Suarez always wanted a future move to Spain, it’s clearly not in Coutinho’s immediate plans. Now we just need to get Sadio Mane back from the AFCON and sort the defence out, and we might just get our season back on track!
