Cautious Spurs defender proves teams are still fearful of what Liverpool can do

Saturday’s Premier League clash with Tottenham promises to be a cracker considering the circumstances and Jurgen Klopp’s men will need Anfield rocking.

It is an opportunity against a top six side we have an impressive record against of late to begin this fight back and mount a response following last weekend’s abysmal defeat to Hull.

The Reds cannot afford to lose this weekend as the top four threatens to increase the gap and Manchester United and Everton begin to creep up on us in the table.

Spurs defender Ben Davies is remaining wary of the threat Liverpool can pose despite our run of poor results in recent weeks.

He told the Liverpool Echo: “We’ve seen they’re not on the greatest run but they’re still a very, very good team.”

“They’re going to be dangerous to play against, especially at home. It’s one we’re looking forward to and we’ve got to go into it looking to get the points.”

“We’ve got a young squad here and our aim is to keep improving all the time. The manager drills that into us and it’s up to us to show it on the pitch.”

Tottenham will punish us on Saturday if we fail to show up and perform. They will not only test our defence from start to finish but they will be a difficult unit to break down.

The energy has to return and so does the spark. Our attacking stars are available again and there will be no excuses for failing to make the most of our chances and finding the back of the net.

We are still a force to be taken seriously.
