LFC want Monaco’s superb ball-winning midfielder as part of £150m spending spree

There’s a lot of speculation in the tabloids today, such as here in the Daily Star, that Liverpool will go on a crazy spending spree this summer.

They suggest that Jurgen Klopp is being armed with a £150m budget to build a squad capable of challenging domestically and in Europe.

The names mooted are Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Athletic Bilbao’s Inaki Williams, Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk and Monaco’s Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, Williams and Van Dijk have been consistently linked, but Bakayoko is a new name on the list.

The 22-year-old plies his trade for the Ligue 1 leaders and has been exceptional this term.

Playing in a midfield two with the also excellent Fabinho, Bakoyoko has put in consistently good performances – priding himself on his ability to win the ball back and also retain it.

He has the physical attributes Liverpool need in central midfield, but there will likely be plenty of competition for his services.

We’d love Bakoyoko to sign, but would be equally happy with Red Bull Leipzig’s Naby Keita. We’re after the Guinean too, but will have to battle Bayern Munich for his services.
