A reunion of Liverpool’s legends posed as a timely tribute to Ronnie Moran following the passing of Mr Liverpool earlier in the week.
The pre-match minute’s applause was impeccable and an honest remembrance of a man who helped shape what the club stands for today. It promises to have been a difficult few days for those who were close to Moran at Liverpool and his family in particular.
He seemingly had an impact on everyone he came into contact with, including one of the greatest players this club has ever seen in Steven Gerrard.
Liverpool’s former skipper used his post-match interview on Saturday as an opportunity to pay tribute to Moran, who spent 49 years at the club.
It was a special occasion and one that Moran would undoubtedly have loved to have seen. The upcoming Merseyside derby is sure to be yet another chance to remember the Anfield great and thank him for his incredible service to this club.
In his post-match interview, Gerrard told LFCTV: “We’d like to mention ‘Mr Liverpool’, Ronnie Moran and dedicate this victory to him.”
“It’s been a difficult week for the current players, the ex-players, the supporters, but none more so than Ronnie’s family.”
“So on behalf of everyone at the club, we’re behind them and hopefully today’s victory cheers them up that little bit.”
