Dusan Tadic sparks Liverpool rumours: ‘In every club, sometimes players leave’

Southampton fans must utterly despise Liverpool, and we wouldn’t blame them for a minute.

Not only have we pillaged the Saints of their best talent since the summer of 2014, but this transfer window has seen them report us to the Premier League for illegally tapping up captain Virgil van Dijk.

That deal may still get done if the Dutchman hands in a transfer request, but we won’t find out until the fury dies down from our original misconduct.

Southampton will be even less inclined to do business if we go after Dusan Tadic, though.

The 28-year-old Serbian has been superb since arriving in England three years ago, regularly appearing at the top of the Premier League assist charts.

He’s been linked to Liverpool as a result, but refused to rule out a move – suggesting that transfers do happen.

Tadic told The Independent: “I don’t comment on these things. I have an agent and I have correct things with the club.

“We will see. You never know in football. In every club, sometimes players leave. It is not easy, but this is football.”

With Mo Salah seemingly imminent, there doesn’t seem much need for Tadic as well – despite his obvious talent. We’d prefer Ben Woodburn to continue his development once the Egyptian arrives – or buy another attacker with genuine price.

Tadic’s team-mate van Dijk would do very nicely indeed, of course.
