Watford are interested in signing Liverpool’s unwanted winger Lazar Markovic, reports the Times.

The Serbian is not in Jurgen Klopp’s plans and our manager wants to offload him permanently this summer to bolster his own coffers.

Markovic played for Watford’s new manager Marco Silva on loan at Hull during the second half of last season and the manager was clearly impressed.

According to Paul Joyce, Liverpool want £20m for Markovic, but we’re sure we’d sell for almost half that if concrete offers came in.

The winger is talented, but doesn’t have the mettle or character for Liverpool, although it would be fair to say he’s never been given a fair crack of the whip either.

It’ll be interesting to see Markovic in Watford’s yellow on Premier League opening day, when Liverpool travel down to Vicarage Road…

Hopefully he won’t feel like he has too much to prove, as our ex-players have an annoying habit of putting our defence to the sword!
