LFC target destined to leave after bold comments…. but Reds may be too late

Liverpool may have the opportunity to renew their interest in Faouzi Ghoulam following suggestions the left-back is on his way out of Napoli.

The Reds were dubbed avid admirers of the Algerian international during the summer transfer window, with reports going as far as talking up the prospect of a deal involving Alberto Moreno heading in the opposite direction.

Tenuous links failed to develop and the club eventually recruited Andrew Robertson from Hull City as a means of addressing a priority need.

A future deal for Ghoulam could now be possible, if Liverpool choose to pursue it.

Mario Giuffredi, a representative of Ghoulam’s teammate Mário Rui, told Radio Crc if the defender “wanted to renew, he’d already have done it,” as reported by Football Italia.

This could see the 26-year-old become available on a free transfer which, depending on the future of Moreno, would be an intriguing option next summer.

That said, the arrival of Robertson makes it difficult to see Jurgen Klopp entering the market for another left-back- especially giving the need to invest heavily in the centre of defence.

One to perhaps keep an eye on.
