It’s not often Liverpool have a need to watch Everton when we’re not beating them in a Merseyside Derby…
But last night we were fairly interested to see what was going on at Goodison Park because our on-loan Brazilian Allan was playing for their Europa League opponents Apollon Limassol – who earned a bravely fought 2-2 draw.
Up against Morgan Schneiderlin and Tom Davies, Allan did very well, looking composed at the base of midfield and using his left-foot to spread play at will.
He doesn’t do anything especially fussy, but you can see why Jurgen Klopp likes him. He gets rid of the ball quickly and makes sensible decisions.
As a squad player who comes on to control games and keep possession, he could be a handy addition in the future.
