Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho will give Ander Herrera just his second start of the Premier League campaign on Saturday, reports the Mirror.

Despite Herrera winning United’s Player of the Year award in 2016/17, he’s barely featured this term, with Mourinho preferring Nemanja Matic, Marouane Fellaini and Paul Pogba.

However, with the latter two injured and unavailable, the 28-year-old will come in.

Herrera is no stranger to the Anfield derby, of course. In 2015, Steven Gerrard was sent off just minutes into the game after tackling the Spaniard. And at Old Trafford last season, he tried to get Roberto Firmino sent off by pretending our Brazilian had hit him in the face.

He’s a nasty piece of work, but Liverpool need to keep our heads and ensure he doesn’t wind us up.

We imagine United will let us have the ball, as most teams do at Anfield, but it’s up to us to use it wisely and take any chances presented our way.

United will be dangerous on the break, so Alberto Moreno and Joe Gomez (our likely fullbacks) will need to be careful not to leave Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip too exposed.

Emre Can, Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum have to be at their best though, to outdo Herrera and Matic centrally.

That may be where the game is won.
