Speculation linking Emre Can to an Anfield exit has served as an accurate insight into the honest opinions fans hold of the German.
The Liverpool star’s true value divided supporters at the beginning of the year, but his rise to form since then appears to have convinced Reds he is a player worth keeping hold of.
Those wishes may be futile, however, with recent reports suggesting Can will leave when his contract expires next summer.
Liverpool’s refusal to insert the release clause the 23-year-old is demanding seemingly marks the basis of why talks over an extension have broken down.
Whilst interest from Juventus has been common knowledge on Merseyside for some time, details of Manchester City’s pursuit are still being processed.
The Premier League leaders are now reportedly leading the race for Can’s signature, much to the disgust of supporters. Rumours have even sailed as far to suggest Can himself is waiting for the move to the Eithad.
Supporters have reacted angrily to the matter, with some criticising the former Bayer Leverkusen man and others urging Liverpool to continue negotiations.
One fan even justified any ambitions Can may have to play for City.
Interesting…

If Emre Can is seriously joining Man City he needs to rot in the reserves on a World Cup year. I wouldn’t mind he wouldn’t get in their team.

Listen, Emre Can is a German international and will be fancied by many! If he doesn’t wish to stay at #LFC and wants a move to Man City where he might not play but will win things, who’d blame him? The Can topic is boring now!

If Emre Can is going to wind down his contract just to move to Man City then that’s a massive dick move towards the club and the fans. If you want to leave without upsetting the fans, don’t join a rival especially on a free.

So Emre Can wants assurances on playing time in his contract; & if not, he will go to Man City in the summer ……… pic.twitter.com/APxSIeEcwS

If Emre Can does end up at Man City we can say with certainty that a guaranteed first team place wasn’t a motivating factor. 💰💰💰

If @LFC lets #EmreCan leave for either to #ManCity or #Juventus it just proves that we are not serious about going back to the glory days as we are a #sellingclub get the contract signed ffs
