Sadio Mane and Trent Alexander-Arnold are having a small amount of their wages docked for not letting Liverpool know how much sleep they’ve had!
That’s according to Simon Mignolet, who was explaining how club doctors want every squad member to update a sleeping app on their smartphones…
Mignolet: “Sadio Mané & Trent [Alexander-Arnold] were fined the most in the last couple of months. We have to fill out an app in the mornings to say how much we have slept & how well we have slept & they keep forgetting to do it.”

Forgetting to fill something out is probably quite common for 19-year-olds, so this is no surprise for Trent!
Sadio, of course, should know better!
What Mignolet’s comments do indicate though is just how much effort is put into analysing a player’s peak physical condition by the club.
Everything is monitored, stored, calculated and relayed to Jurgen Klopp so the manager can pick his side – to the point the doctors need to know how many hours the players are getting every night.
Even ten years ago this wouldn’t have been happening, showing just how much sports science has changed football.
