Sadio Mane explains grumpy goal celebration and apparent sulk

Liverpool fans were a little confused yesterday during and after our 2-1 victory at Burnley, due to Sadio Mane’s demeanour.

The winger scored a stunner, but hardly celebrated and looked in poor spirits when exiting the pitch, too.

But it turns out Mane was actually ill and did well to play at all.

But with Mo Salah and Coutinho injured, Jurgen Klopp had to risk the 26-year-old.

“It was not easy for me but it’s football so I keep working hard to help the team more and more,” Mane told club website, cited in Goal

“I think it is not our best game but I think we deserved to win because we created many chances and we got two goals.

“We have some important players missing today. But we have other players and we can count on them and they do well.”

Liverpool are now unbeaten in 16 matches following the 4-1 loss to Spurs at Wembley.

Klopp’s rotated his squad and now we’re hopefully in a position when our best players will be available and fit during January, the month our season derailed last term.

There’s two massive fixtures coming up. First, we play Everton on Friday before hosting Manchester City at Anfield in the Premier League.

We really hope Klopp picks a proper side this week, as we’d love some silverware at the end of this campaign.
