Emre Can insists he will continue to put maximum effort in for Liverpool whilst still under contract at the club.
The German’s current deal on Merseyside is set to expire in the summer, with Juventus seemingly first in line to snatch him on a free transfer.
Talks over an extension have proven to be ineffective since the beginning of last year due to disputes over wage demands and Liverpool’s apparent reluctance to add Can’s desired release clause.
Recent reports have, however, hinted at more productive negotiations as the club strives to hold onto the midfielder.
“I still have a contract here until the end of the season,” Can told Sky Sports News.
“I give everything for the club, I will try to give everything for the club. The rest is down to my agent, and I’m just responsible for performances on the pitch.”
His bullish display conveyed a natural commitment to the cause that yet again diminished suggestions of him being unhappy at the club.
Teasing comments from his teammates on social media also proceeded to point towards progress in his contract talks.
Reds were treated to the best of Can last time out, the Can that isn’t always on show but the one that makes fighting to keep hold of him worthwhile.
On his day, he is arguably Liverpool’s most accomplished central-midfield option and a figure capable of taking the club forward.
