Jordan Henderson has paid recognition to Andrew Robertson for his sparkling form since breaking into Liverpool’s starting lineup.
The Scottish international was resigned to a frustrating start to life on Merseyside after signing from Hull City during the summer.
Alberto Moreno’s resurgence had kept the left-back on the sidelines until the Spaniard suffered an ankle injury in Liverpool’s 7-0 Champions League win over Spartak Moscow in early December.
Robertson has since taken full advantage of his extended run in the team and played an inspired role in an 18-game unbeaten run for the Reds over the festive period.
“He has been brilliant over the last couple of months,” Henderson told Liverpoolfc.com.
“He has settled in really well and against Porto going forward, he was fantastic.”
“On and off the field Robbo has been brilliant and hopefully he’s another one who can continue his form and keep it going for the rest of the season.”
Robertson hasn’t just thrived on the left of Liverpool’s defence, but also seemingly emerged as a big personality within the squad behind-the-scenes.
The 23-year-old has naturally installed Jurgen Klopp’s desired aggression and energy to quickly surface as a popular figure on Merseyside.
His latest instalment of his swift integration came after Wednesday’s 5-0 win over Porto, when Robertson hunted down the match ball to ensure Sadio Mane didn’t leave without a memento following his hat-trick.
Besides injecting greater defensive reliability than Moreno, he has also aspired to serve as a capable attacking outlet and subsequently combined with Mane in giving Liverpool an fiery left-flank.
Having broken into the team, he’ll now take some dislodging.
