Trent Alexander-Arnold has waxed lyrical about his team-mate Roberto Firmino.
The Brazilian has scored in each our last three victories and put in superb all-round performances as well.
Against West Ham, Bobby added our third in the second-half, producing another no-look finish to send the internet into overdrive!
But Alexander-Arnold has ignored his back-page moment and focussed predominantly on his defensive output.
According to the youngster, Firmino sometimes ‘overdoes’ his tracking back!
(We’re not sure Jurgen Klopp would agree…)
“I think he’s definitely underrated in terms of the recognition that he gets,” Alexander-Arnold told the Mail.
“I think he links the whole team together. He links the front three together, especially.
“He always plays a part. If you watch him closely, his drive and enthusiasm to get back and defend as a No 9 is incredible.
“Most of the time you see him past the halfway line, tracking back and making tackles. Sometimes he overdoes it, but in a good way. I suppose he doesn’t have to do it, but he’s willing to do it for the team.
“You don’t really see that from an all-round No. 9. It just shows his hunger to win. I think that’s a big part of it.
“He is priceless to us. He scores goals, he creates chances and he gets assists. There’s not much more you want from a No 9.”
While Firmino has been superb, the man talking, Alexander-Arnold, deserves credit himself.
With Joe Gomez taking time to come back from an injury, the Scouser has made the right-back his own in recent weeks, playing the full 90 in our past five games.
Nathaniel Clyne has returned from injury now, so competition in his position is perhaps fiercer than anywhere on the field, but the fact Trent’s top of the pecking order says much about his superb campaign.
