Agent deals Liverpool transfer blow over £80m-rated target

The agent of Roma goalkeeper Alisson has seemingly dropped a major hint that he’ll be staying in the Italian capital, as opposed to potentially moving to Anfield.

It follows on from the Liverpool Echo reporting this week that the Reds weren’t planning on making a bid for the Brazilian international this summer anyway having held an interest in him, with Roma valuing him at £80m.

In turn, it’s more good news for Loris Karius and less positive for those hoping for a new recruit this summer, as judging by the Instagram post below from Ze Maria Neis, the player’s agent, he’s in talks with Roma over his client.

His caption reads: “Growing partnership! Taking care of the interests of our athlete Alisson Becker here in Rome!”

It’s disappointing that it looks like we won’t be in the hunt for Alisson this summer given how good he is, but ultimately, Karius is currently repaying the faith shown by Jurgen Klopp.

The 24-year-old has nailed down a starting spot in the line-up having made eight consecutive Premier League appearances, and we’ve looked a lot better at the back in recent weeks having conceded just five goals in our last eight games in all competitions.

The post below isn’t necessarily a complete snub of offers outside of Rome, but with Alisson’s agent seemingly talking to the club about his future and with Karius doing a solid job for us at the moment, it looks increasingly unlikely that we’ll be welcoming the Brazilian to Merseyside this summer.
