Liverpool are involved in a serious battle with all of our English rivals for Jurgen Klopp’s primary no.6 option, Jorginho.
According to respectable Brazilian outlet UOL, the 26-year-old’s agent has met with Liverpool’s hierarchy already, but also the recruitment teams at Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal.
It’s well known that Pep Guardiola is especially keen on Jorginho, with his current anchoring midfielder Fernandinho recently turning 33.
Liverpool desperately need a no.6 who has the technical ability to control tempo and dominate possession, but also the vision to unleash our forwards with longer passes.
Captain Jordan Henderson does an underrated job of this when fit, but injuries have curtailed every season he’s had under Klopp and the fact Emre Can is departing on a free means we badly need a top level alternative.
UOL say that Napoli will do business for £50m, which doesn’t seem too extravagant in this day and age.
City look like frontrunners, but Klopp proved in his ability to secure Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Virgil van Dijk and Naby Keita ahead of our rivals that anything is possible in the transfer market.
