LFC firesale: Echo names NINE Reds set for exit this summer

James Pearce reckons nine senior Liverpool players will leave during the upcoming transfer window, and there’s only one of them we’d prefer to keep.

Rhian Brewster is eyeing a move to Germany to get more first-team football, which is a crying shame considering his talent and the potential he has to become one of the best players in Europe.

But the rest of them are surplus to requirements as far as we’re concerned and hopefully will make us a decent amount of money that Jurgen Klopp will allowed to reinvest on top of what’s already likely to be a massive budget.

The Echo says the nine are as follows: Simon Mignolet, Adam Bogdan, Connor Randal, Emre Can, Rhian Brewster, Lazar Markovic, Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Jon Flanagan.

We’d obviously prefer to keep Can as well as Brewster, but that’s now looking pretty much impossible.

Mignolet, Markovic, Sturridge and Origi though will generate transfer fees. Combined, we’d hope to get near £50m – which offsets the Naby Keita arrival.

Bogdan, Randall and Flanno will generate next to nothing, while Brewster, who will still hope will stay, will only earn us a small fee decided by a tribunal.

The key of course is not losing any other players we’d prefer to keep… Can’s exit is disappointing, as is Brewster’s – but neither would have walked into the first XI next season – so can be accounted for with swift, smart work in terms of players coming in.
