Liverpool fans will love what Senegal’s manager said about Sadio Mane and LFC

Senegal boss Aliou Cisse has heaped praise onto LFC star Sadio Mane ahead of their opening game of the World Cup against Poland today.

Mane goes into this tournament on the back of an excellent season at club level, in which he contributed 20 goals and 8 assists for us in our run to the Champions League final, in which he also scored in a 3-1 defeat.

We all love Mane, though it’s fair to say he’s gone somewhat under the radar as one of the best attacking players in the world, partly due to playing alongside the dazzlingly good Mo Salah and Bobby Firmino.

Cisse, however, insists Mane is already one of the best in the world, rather than someone who could reach those heights one day.

Speaking ahead of the Poland game, the Senegal head coach was full of praise for both the player and his club, in quotes that will truly warm the heart of Reds everywhere!

“I don’t want to say he could become one of the best players in the world – he is already one of the best, you have to stress this,” Cisse was quoted on LFC’s official site.

“He plays for an iconic club in Liverpool, which is one of the best clubs in Europe. He has shown he is top-notch with his club and he has something unique.

“He’s unpredictable, at any point he can make the difference with a dribble and pass, so for me he is already one of the best players.

“Sadio is a unique player and he can’t be compared to any other Senegal players, even if we’ve had some major ones in the past.

“He’s unique and despite everything that has occurred to him in the last two or three years, he hasn’t changed. He’s just as humble as the first time I met him, six years ago at the Olympics.

“His mentality hasn’t changed, his behaviour to staff and his humility to [his] teammates is the same, so he’s a player who can bring a lot to the team.”
