Today’s Liverpool Echo has an interesting and in-depth explanation of the potential goalkeeper merry-go-round we could witness in this summer’s transfer market.
One of the main players involved is Roma goalkeeper Alisson, a name you’ll likely all be familiar with by now after continued links with LFC in recent months.
Only days go Globo Esporte claimed we’d offered the Brazilian shot-stopper a contract, but the Echo report that he’d favour a move to the Bernabeu instead.
This piece goes on to say that were that move to come off and Jan Oblak to remain at Atletico Madrid (another ‘keeper regarded as one of the best in the world), everything could come together for us to sign Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois.
Gianluca Di Marzio have linked the Belgian with Liverpool in recent times, so if he doesn’t end up back in Madrid due to Oblak being retained, could this move actually make sense?
While it’s probably unlikely at this stage, if his contract remains unsigned it’s well worth keeping an eye on, and with Liverpool in the Champions League next season and Chelsea, it shouldn’t be too hard to persuade him we’re a step up at this moment in time.
