Liverpool’s new goalkeeper Alisson has explained how his friendship with Mo Salah has reignited!

The pair played together at Roma during the 2016/17 season, but are now both Reds, following the £66m deal to secure the goalkeeper and the bargain £37m to buy Salah last year.

Monchi: Why we’re selling Alisson

“We didn’t have that much contact after he left Roma. We met again in the game when we were up against each other [in the Champions League in April],” Alisson told Liverpoolfc.com.

“Yesterday, he sent me a message saying: ‘Hey, what are you waiting for?’ As the negotiations were at an advanced stage, I replied to him straight away saying: ‘Calm down, I’m on my way!’

“I’m really happy to have the opportunity to play alongside him again. As well as being a great player, he is a huge character and a great person – which is the most important thing.

“To be with these great people and players day to day is fantastic for me.”

The Brazilian has become the most expensive goalkeeper of all time and we really hope he justifies the extravagant fee.

Alisson is everything Klopp wants in a goalkeeper. He’s big, a superb shot-stopper, has incredible distribution and is always composed – which will hopefully instil a calm attitude amongst those around him.

Realistically, Liverpool have not had an elite stopper since Pepe Reina’s prime, which was around ten years ago.

We’re very confident Alisson can fill his boots – and some.
