Eden Hazard made special request to Daniel Sturridge after Chelsea draw

Eden Hazard has urged Daniel Sturridge to replicate his genius against Chelsea when Liverpool continue their Premier League title charge next weekend.

The Reds will host Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday after the reigning champions joined Jurgen Klopp’s men as joint-league leaders with their 2-0 win over Brighton.

It beckons as the first mouth-watering meeting between the two sides following four thrilling encounters in the Premier League and the Champions League last season.

The game is now perfectly-poised, with both sides level on points thanks to Sturridge’s magnificent 25-yard equaliser in the 89th minute at Stamford Bridge.

BT Sport’s Des Kelly claims Hazard told Sturridge: “Great goal… just make sure you do it again next weekend!”

Liverpool will first be directing their attention towards Wednesday’s Champions League group stage clash with Napoli in Naples.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men enter the contest on the back of a 3-1 defeat to Juventus and still in search of a win in Europe having been held to a goalless draw in their opener against Red Star Belgrade.

It remains to be seen how Klopp plans on using Sturridge in two key games heading into the international break, with the Englishman pushing hard for another starting spot following his impact in the win over Paris Saint-Germain.

To merely have his touch of class and unpredictability waiting on the bench is a monumental boost to Liverpool’s chances.

If Liverpool’s front three struggle to find the finishing touch as they did at the weekend, Sturridge will be ready to make his mark.
