Daniel Sturridge should be in the England squad – that is the belief of the Sunday Times’ Jonathan Northcroft.
Speaking to Sky Sports’ The Sunday Supplement, he said: “Daniel Sturridge, in terms of talent, and someone who is in good shape and form – England should be biting the hand off to get Sturridge in there.
“I do not understand that one [Sturridge’s omission], I would actually have him in the team. He is a slightly different player to Harry Kane if you want a No 9 and a No 10. Throwing Raheem Sterling in there, there are some incredible talents.”
We agree that in terms of talent he deserves to be there, but for the Reds it’s best that he isn’t. The longer he stays fit for us the better and Jurgen Klopp and his staff know how to manage him best – England can do without Sturridge.
