How good was Dejan Loven yesterday, Reds…?
The Croat made a number of crucial tackles and blocks against onrushing Manchester City attackers and helped Liverpool rack up our fifth Premier League clean-sheet out of eight.
Lovren had been drafted into the starting XI at the expense of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has looked tired and in need of a rest recently, with Joe Gomez moving to right-back.
Before kick-off, many Reds found this a confusing decision, because of how well the young Englishman has done alongside Virgil van Dijk.
But in fairness to Lovren, he was immense next to the Dutchman, who actually gave away the penalty at the death.
There was one sticky moment when Lovren potentially fouled Sergio Aguero in the box, but it wasn’t given and he actually grew into the game afterwards.
Not a bad third-choice centre-back to have at our disposal…
He may be clumsy, but Dejan Lovren was immense today. Some crucial challenges.

Lovren & Henderson deserve such praise. They endure mass hate not just from normal fans but also the majority of our own, despite this give every game their absolute ALL for the club. They perform well on the whole and deserve to stay in the squad.

Lovren was good, but he could’ve easily given two penalties away. I was screaming at him to not bite into challenges, but fair play he won them all.

Dejan Lovren literally trying to taste the tears of unfathomable sadness from Riyad Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus. pic.twitter.com/QNmxAZpWlQ

It’s mad how there was a meltdown on here about Lovren starting and then he goes on to be our MOTM. It’s almost as if Klopp knows what he’s doing sometimes

If Lovren gave the penalty away instead of Van Dijk then Mahrez would’ve scored.
