Ronald Koeman jokes about making ‘Mr Klopp’ happy

Ronald Koeman reckons he’s in Jurgen Klopp’s good books, after resting Gini Wijnaldum for Holland’s draw with Belgium.

In his place, Koeman selected Strootman and van de Beek either side of Daley Blind, allowing Wijnaldum a rest after his exploits in the victory over Germany.

Virgil van Dijk had also been sent home early and missed the second game, so both should be able to start for Liverpool on Saturday v Huddersfield.

Klopp loudly expressed his disdain for the Nations League before this set of international fixtures – and was rewarded by a number of his players returning crocked.

They did so however in the AFCON Qualification, predominantly, with Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita all doubts for the weekend.

Klopp will just be happy the games are over, as it’s been a horrible wait since that Manchester City draw.

What’s more, there’s another fortnight of international football in just four weeks’ time.

Something needs to be done as it’s ruining players.
