Klopp praises Alisson as he weighs in on offside debate

Jurgen Klopp says he feels the Reds were perhaps slightly fortunate that Aleksander Mitrovic’s header was ruled out for offside 14 seconds before Mo Salah opened the scoring at Anfield – but said his side reacted brilliantly when the decision was made.

He said, via the Liverpool Echo: “I don’t want to compare it, but against Arsenal, we scored a clearer goal which was not offside and didn’t get it. You cannot change it.”

With the offside having been given, the Reds did not hang about to see whether it was correct or not – instead, a rapid counter-attack was set in motion by Alisson Becker.

Klopp added: “The most important thing is reacting in that situation that quickly. That was brilliant. Ali, Trent, Mo and done. It was a fantastic situation. The reaction was brilliant.”

The goal was reminiscent of some of the goals we scored last season. Salah’s goal was his eighth of the season so far, while the Reds have 30 Premier League points from 12 matches.
