Luis Suarez gives rumoured Liverpool target advice

Luis Suarez has told Ousmane Dembele to get his head down and work on being the best player he can, amid rumours the Frenchman is unhappy at Barcelona and could be sold in the future.

Dembele cost over £100m in summer 2017, but has shown repeated poor discipline and is no longer an automatic starter under Ernesto Valverde.

“I think being a footballer is a privilege,” Suarez told AS, translated by Football365. “I think he should focus on football, and take inspiration from the exemplary professionals in the Barcelona dressing room.”

Dembele has been regularly linked to Liverpool, but James Pearce recently claimed in the Echo that nothing would happen in January regarding a potential bid.

In all honesty, we’re ok with that – as it’s a creative central attacking midfielder we need more than a speedy wing-forward.

Someone like Kai Havertz or Christian Pulisic would be great, although as Pearce said, we’d also be very surprised if we bid for a first-team player in January.

Ideally, Naby Keita will come properly into the mix and start performing like the £50m midfielder we thought we’d signed over the summer.

His levels of talent are enormous, but injuries and an adaptation period have so far held him back from showing it consistently. With Keita, Fabinho and Shaqiri in midfield, we could look an extremely creative outfit.
