Koulibaly talks Liverpool: We had ‘Fear’ of Klopp’s ‘So Strong’ Reds

Napoli’s world-class central defender Kalidou Koulibaly has spoken honestly about his side’s defeat to Liverpool last night.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds defeated the Italians 1-0, which was enough for us to progress to the Last 16, played in February next year.

Mo Salah scored the winner, and skinned Koulibaly, who otherwise was superb, in the process.

The Senegalese, an international team-mate of Sadio Mane, has admitted his team were probably a little but afraid of last season’s finalists.

“It was a very important game, we knew that Liverpool had to win, we had a bit of difficulty…” he told Sky Sports, cited by Calcio Mercato. “The goal was avoidable, we could have done more to score, but tonight was different. In the Europa League, we know it’s an important competition and we’ll play it with everything we have and we’ll try to honour it until the end. Today, unconsciously, there was a bit of fear, against a team that is so strong it’s not easy.”

Koulibaly is a phenomenal defender and we wouldn’t be surprised if a Premier League club, potentially Manchester United, spends an outrageous sum on his services next summer.

But he’ll spend the rest of this campaign in the Europa League, while Liverpool try to go won better in the Champions League and win it.

We should be afraid of nobody. Although quite strongly want Real Madrid to avenge last year’s final.
