United have massive injury crisis before Liverpool match

Manchester United have a number of players they won’t be able to call up for the clash with Liverpool on Sunday.

According to the Echo, these nine are likely unavailable injured: Victor Lindelof, Chris Smalling, Marcus Rojo, Luke Shaw, Matteo Darmian, Anthony Martial, Diogo Dalot, Scott McTominay and Alexis Sanchez.

Of those, Lindelof, Smalling, Shaw and Martial would have started definitely, meaning Mo Salah can come up against the woefully out of form Phil Jones in United’s backline.

Liverpool have our own injury problems of course.

Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are both out with broken bones and won’t feature again in 2018, meaning Dejan Lovren will play alongside Virgil van Dijk at centre-back.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is sadly a doubt as well, meaning James Milner or Fabinho may have to step in at right-back – which will be tricky considering United’s most dangerous player Marcus Rashford starts on the left and cuts in on goal.

In midfield and up top, we’re well stocked, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain the only long-term absentee.
