Liverpool fans have saluted Virgil van Dijk for yet another exceptional display in Friday’s 2-0 win over Wolves at Molineux.
The Dutchman scored the Reds’ decisive second in the second half to cap a Man of the Match display and help extend his side’s unbeaten record in the Premier League.
Another formidable outing at the back meanwhile earned Jurgen Klopp’s men an 11th clean sheet and kept their goals against record to an incredible seven.
The former Southampton man excelled in rainy conditions to expertly combat the hosts’ counterattacking threat and make amends for his side’s own unforced errors where necessary.
Reds took to social media to commend his excellence after seeing their side secure top spot for Christmas…
There was a moment in the second half when Adama Traore tried to race past Virgil van Dijk. Suddenly, van Dijk had taken the ball. Traore’s night was over. Wolves were beaten. Van Dijk then scored. I’ve never seen a defender like him represent Liverpool. https://t.co/qVCGhfpNYC

Virgil Van Dijk is the best defender in the world. If you think anything else you’re mentally unwell.
