Lovren has received a ban for ‘insulting’ Sergio Ramos

Dejan Lovren has been given a one-game international ban for his behaviour during and after Croatia’s 3-2 victory over Spain in the UEFA Nations League.

According to UEFA, Lovren broke the ‘Insulting behaviour’ rule, as set by the Control, Ethics and Disciplinary board, by goading Ramos after full-time on Instagram.

Lovren took to social media while in the dressing room, clearly still very emotionally charged, claiming he elbowed Ramos on purpose; labelling the Spain and Real Madrid captain a ‘pussy’ in the process.

Liverpool fans loved it, following the manner in which Ramos injured Mo Salah in the Champions League and the way he spoke about the incident afterwards – but it’s landed Lovren in hot water.

For us, Ramos is a horrible guy, but it’s over. We should forget about what happened and look to simply win trophies – which is the only way Liverpool can really get one over on him.

There’s a chance we’ll play Real Madrid in Europe this term, which would be an incredible tie after what happened in Kiev – but our focus is the Premier League and a two-legged affair with Bayern Munich before we’ll even consider the quarterfinals.
