This is quality from Fabinho.
If only every time a Liverpool player was linked to another club, they reacted like this.
Our Brazilian midfielder, who filled in at centre-back superbly yesterday in the 1-0 victory over Brighton, has claimed the rumours he was going to join PSG were made public by the French club to purposely unsettle Liverpool before our match with them in the Champions League.
Fabinho says PSG did the same thing before a match when he was at Monaco as well…
He told L’Equipe: “I never thought of going elsewhere.
“I know a lot of things were written in the newspapers, but it wasn’t true. What’s funny is that this PSG loan story came out just before our Champions League match [in November].
“And I had already experienced a similar story the day before the final of the Coupe de la Ligue between PSG and Monaco [in March 2018]. It’s a strange coincidence, isn’t it?”
Hopefully this will signal the end of the boring, boring rumours that Fab will move to PSG.
He’s doing excellently at Liverpool and has improved gradually as the season has progressed, following a start in which Jurgen Klopp rarely used him.
Now, we’d suggest he’s a definite starter in our strongest XI, probably alongside Gini Wijnaldum and ahead of Jordan Henderson in a midfield double-pivot.
If we’re to win the Premier League this season, we’ll need Fabinho at this best throughout the second half of the campaign.
