Liverpool host Bayern at Anfield on February 19th, looking to establish a strong foothold in the tie before the trip to Germany three weeks later.

Neuer hasn’t so much as played down the importance of the crowd, which is a mistake many opponents make before playing Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, but claimed excitement for the clash.

“We have heard a lot about the atmosphere in the stadium,” he told ESPN. “Everyone who watches football knows it’s special, and I think they will be two great games.

“For us, the Champions League is very important. It is a knockout tie, two finals. We are happy to play in their stadium.

“It’s the first game for me at Anfield. I’m looking forward to playing there.

“Hopefully, it will be great night for us. But it depends on the result, of course.”

It’s a strange situation regarding the Champions League right now for Liverpool fans, as everyone is so concentrated on the Premier League title run-in!

But a Last 16 clash with European royalty like Bayern is absolutely massive. Hopefully we can put on a scintillating performance which not only helps us progress to the quarters, but inspires confidence for the game against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday 24th of this month.

Then, it’s Watford, Everton and Burnley before the second leg!
