Alisson: We’ve ‘cracked’ how to defend without Van Dijk

Alisson has never played a game for Liverpool without Virgil van Dijk in front of him!

But tomorrow against Bayern Munich, he’ll have to, as the Dutchman is suspended after picking up too many yellow cards in the group stages.

In his place, Liverpool will either field Dejan Lovren (if he’s fit), Jordan Henderson or Fabinho alongside Joel Matip at the back.

Considering we’re up against one of the best centre-forwards on the planet in Robert Lewandowski, it’s going to be some challenge.

But Alisson isn’t worried.

“All the defenders have played so when one comes in and one leaves, we don’t feel that loss because we’re all used to each other,” the former Roma man told Premier League Productions, cited in the Mirror.

“That the backline are all able to communicate with each other, and know each other really well, is vital for any team.

“Once you’ve cracked it, you’ve got it – and we seem confident.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold will return at right-back v Bayern, and Andy Robertson will play at left-back.

We reckon Fabinho will not play in defence and will hold the midfield, with Naby Keita and Gini Wijnaldum completing the in-form trio.

Up top, the front-three picks themselves – with Sadio Mane and Mo Salah flanking Roberto Firmino.

Anfield is going to be buzzing. Bring it on!
