How LFC should start v Watford without Firmino

It looks like the ankle injury which kept Roberto Firmino out of the majority of Sunday’s draw with Manchester United will also keep him out of Wednesday’s tie with Watford.

The Brazilian is usually an automatic starter for Liverpool, having started every PL game so far this season – but Jurgen Klopp will now have to mix things up for the Anfield tie – and potentially the Everton trip at the weekend as well.

For us, there’s a relatively simple solution. Mo Salah should be moved back to the central forward role, which frees up a post on the right for Xherdan Shaqiri. Sadio Mane can stay on the left – but we need Naby Keita back in the midfield. We think Jordan Henderson will make way for the Guinean creator – who can play alongside Gini Wijnaldum and Fabinho.

In defence, Trent Alexander-Arnold simply has to replace James Milner at right-back, which is pretty much a no-brainer.

The rest of the side picks itself at the moment.

Our starting XI for Watford: 4-3-3: Alisson; Trent, Robertson, van Dijk, Matip; Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Keita; Mane, Shaqiri, Salah
