Real Madrid have cheek to shortlist Jurgen Klopp for next manager

Jurgen Klopp has today been hilariously named amongst two other world-class managers to take over at Real Madrid for next season – following their crashing out of the Champions League at the hands of Ajax.

The Liverpool boss has been linked to the apparent soon to be available job – alongside Spurs’ Mauricio Pochettino and Juventus’ Max Allegri – the same trio Real Madrid reportedly wanted to pick from last summer.

The Independent’s Miguel Delaney reckons they’re likely to keep Santiago Solari in charge until the summer to save face.

Apparently the Real Madrid hierarchy want to install someone who brings “excitement and happiness” to their notoriously sourpuss fan-base and a manager who doesn’t carry any previous baggage.

This is why Klopp is reportedly being eyed up by the Spaniards. Miguel goes on to say: “Klopp is seen as number one, as Perez and his officials have been hugely impressed with the excitement he has created again at Liverpool“.

Real Madrid currently sit third in La Liga – 12 points adrift rivals Barcelona – and following their European exit the only realistic goal for their season now is to finish above local rivals Atletico – who are five points ahead of them. Their season is effectively over in March.

Jurgen Klopp is under contract at Liverpool until next year and won’t move anywhere before then. Real Madrid are the polar opposite of a club that would interest him, actually. We quite want them to approach him, just to see what kind of public rejection he’ll offer.
