Klopp’s interview about Van Dijk after 3-1 win hits nail on the head…

Jurgen Klopp speaks about Virgil van Dijk like every other Liverpool fan – but probably with less emotionally charged swearwords.

After his performance last night, van Dijk was described as a ‘f***ing beautiful man-mountain,’ by a fan close to me – which sums the Dutchman up fairly succinctly.

Klopp actually thinks van Dijk could have played better than he did, which we think is bordering on harsh – but listed a number of the defender’s exceptional traits in the process!

“What can I say… I could write a book about his skills, strength, how much I like him. What a fantastic person he is. So young, already so mature – strong. It’s all good!” the boss told Sky Sports.

“But Virg knows that he can play better than he did tonight. Virg knows that we can play better than we did last night.”

We’d be the first to read that book!

Without question, van Dijk is the best centre-back on the planet. In fact, it’s not even close. To think, the £75m we paid to secure him from Southampton was actually regarded as expensive back in January 2018. It’s now undeniably an absolute bargain.

In fairness though, his partner Joel Matip, who we secured on a free transfer in 2016, don’t forget, has also been superb.

The Cameroonian scored an own-goal last night, but despite his ungainly appearance, is an excellent defender in his own right.

Although Joe Gomez is coming back into fitness, Matip deserves the spot alongside van Dijk right now.
