Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has weighed in on the Alisson vs. Ederson debate and believes the Liverpool man is the better of the two.
The Reds goalkeeper is leading the way in Premier League clean sheets this season – with 18. The Brazilian is one of the key reasons Liverpool are competing with Manchester City this season for the title.
“Alisson is a very good shot-stopper but he can also play very well with his feet which is important for the way Liverpool play,” Gomes told the BBC.
“I believe he is a complete goalkeeper, that’s why he is playing for Liverpool. To be honest, they are both similar players. At the moment Alisson [is better] because I believe he’s more complete than Ederson.”
The Reds are up against Gomes’ former club Spurs this weekend and we’re hoping that the £65million midfielder will notch up his 19th clean sheet of the season.
Jurgen Klopp’s men now sit atop the Premier League with seven games left to play. A win would allow us to keep the pressure on City, who will more than likely claim all three points when they face Fulham this weekend.
Keep the faith though – I’m hoping Ryan Babel will score a 90th minute winner or equaliser!
