Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain made his long-awaited return to first team football as the Reds battered lowly Huddersfield Town in the Premier League.
The England international was treated to a thunderous ovation as he stepped onto the Anfield green for the first time in over 12 months.
The Ox sustained an injury during last season’s Champions League tie with Serie A giants Roma – it was eventually revealed that he would spend a lengthy amount of time in recovery.
He was brought on for the last 20 minutes on Friday night, along with Xherdan Shaqiri, something which may have gone under the radar, and the Liverpool faithful exploded into applause.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has since written an emotional message to fans – via Instagram – to thank them for the welcome he received. He also admits that it’s something he’ll never forget.
The midfielder also went on to thank the staff of the club and his team-mates. Class act.
