Liverpool starting XI vs Newcastle – Lovren at CB, Firmino not in squad

For the trip to St James’ Park, our final away game of the season, Jürgen Klopp has been made some tweaks to his usual team selection as we face up against Rafa’s Newcastle United.

No surpises: it’s Alisson Becker in goal. At centre-back Virgil van Dijk is partnered by Dejan Lovren in the heart of defence.

Andy Robertson takes up his usual post at left-back, while the returning Trent Alexander-Arnold beats Joe Gomez to the right-back spot.

Jordan Henderson comes in for the injured Naby Keïta, alongside former Magpie, Gini Wijnaldum, and Fabinho.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain fails to make the starting XI but is on the bench.

In attack, its the forced inclusion of Daniel Sturridge, together with Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah. Roberto Firmino is not even deemed fit enough for the bench.

It’s our penultimate league game, and, as expected, the title race looks to go right down to the wire with Manchester City hosting Leicester on Monday. Three points tonight puts us back on top!
