AZ Alkmaar tell Reds to abandon hopes of friendly ahead of CL final

Jürgen Klopp’s hopes of playing a pre-Champions League final friendly against AZ Alkmaar have been thwarted according to Dutch newspaper, Noordhollands Dagblad.

Klopp wanted to keep the Reds fresh and fighting fit ahead of the massive showdown in Madrid, but the Eredivise side had to let us down in the end as most of their first-team will be on holiday with their season having already ended.

Those not away on breaks will be representing their national sides, which will further deplete the Dutch side’s playing resources

The Reds were hoping to play the friendly in Spain about a week before the final, according to the report from Noordhollands Dagblad.

With all of these factors, AZ Alkmaar were left with no other option but to tell Klopp to abandon the idea.

We still have to wait until Saturday 1st June for our season to end (with a huge bang) as we take on Tottenham at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium in the Spanish capital looking for European trophy No. 6.
