The noble reason Karius will not attend the CL final in Madrid

Posted by

After what happened last year, Loris Karius has nobly turned down the opportunity to attend our Champions League final against Tottenham in Madrid on Saturday, according to the Daily Mail.

Jürgen Klopp and the coaching stuff have are reportedly supportive and understanding of his gesture.

Concerned that his presence there could prove to be a distraction for the Jürgen Klopp and his Reds, the German ‘keeper – midway through a two-year loan spell at Besiktas – will not be in the capital.

The Daily Mail suggest the Reds will have offered club tickets to all their players out on loan if they wanted to come to the final, but would have to make their own way to Madrid.

However, rather than have distracted eyes on him, or bring needless attention to the Reds’ attempt against Real Madrid last year, the 25-year-old will instead be on holiday.

Despite what happened, we think this is a virtuous and sensible idea from Karius. We also appreciate that he messaged Klopp and his staff to congratulate them on the Barcelona win: classy stuff.

On the night, we don’t need cameras spinning round to focus in on him and have all of Kyiv’s misery dredged up on what should be a night filled with excitement, passion, and optimism.

This weekend will be (rightfully) all about what Klopp and the Reds have achieved this season, especially in Europe, as we go for No. 6 again.

This time, things are different. We can do this, Reds!
