Sporting Lisbon sensation Bruno Fernandes would prefer to play for Liverpool than Manchester City, he has revealed.
The 24-year-old, who scored 31 goals in all competitions despite playing in midfield, has been linked with a host of top clubs – notably City, ourselves and Manchester United.
But he’s a huge fan of Jurgen Klopp’s style of play.
In fairness, who isn’t?!
“I like Liverpool a lot more [than Man City] it’s a more direct [style of play], more offensive, maybe less organised, but more intense football, when you do not have the ball possession, you are more intense,” he told Portuguese outlet Record.
Many fans would love Fernandes at Anfield – and we’d also be mightily excited by his potential transfer.
He actually started most of his games in central midfield this season, which makes his goalscoring record all the more impressive.
We can see Fernandes providing a terrific attacking threat in one of our box-to-box positions in the centre – but in fairness – Liverpool are already very well stocked.
Signing him would be an enormous statement of intent and would provide us Manchester City-like depth.
Perhaps that’s what needed to compete on four fronts next term.
