In last night’s pre-Champions League final press conference, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson were on media duty and perfectly reacted to praise from a reporter.
“You two are two of the full-backs with the most assists in the Premier League,” says the voice from the gathered news media.
Before he can finish his sentence Robbo and Trent smile in knowing synchrony. It’s the ideal way to react to plaudits like this: with a humourous and totally appropriate confidence.
It comes from a conviction in the absoute fact that they’re two of the best full-backs in the world right now on current form.
Both Robbo and Trent are expected to start in tonight’s final against Spurs; hopefully they’ll be doing a lot more smiling if they can add to their assist tallies in what has been an insane season for the pair.
