Six Liverpool players named in Champions League TOTY

UEFA have announced their Champions League ‘squad of the season’ and six players from the champions have made the 20-man list.

Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson, Gini Wijnaldum and Sadio Mane are the six piece of star players that have made the cut.

Mohamed Salah has failed to make the selection, despite finding the net five times and notching up two assists. Not the numbers we saw from the Egyptian last season, but he’s got the same number of goals as Lucas Moura with the Brazilian failing to register an assist.

Other Premier League stars to make the cut include Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne, despite going out in the quarter-final stage, and Spurs players Jan Vertonghen and Moussa Sissoko.

It’s hard to argue the inclusion of players like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Dusan Tadic and Marc Andre ter Stegen though – these players put in some fantastic solo performances for their clubs.

Even though Juventus were eliminated in the quarter-final stage, like Man City, Cristiano’s performance against old rivals Ateltico Madrid is more than enough to warrant a place in the squad.

Do you think there were any mistakes made in the selection, Reds?
