Kylian Mbappe admits he wants to emulate LFC legend

PSG and France star Kylian Mbappe has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks – which has only picked up some legitimacy as the forward followed several Reds players on social media in the last few days.

The World Cup winner has expressed a desire to follow in the footsteps of Steven Gerrard, but he’s talking about one day ending up in the United States.

Our legendary former skipper wasn’t the only name mentioned though – Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Frank Lampard and Andrea Pirlo are other players Mbappe looks up to.

We don’t know what happens in football,” Mbappe told ESPN. “Now in the USA, a lot of great players come after their careers in Europe, like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Andrea Pirlo, great players.

You don’t know what can happen, maybe when I’m a little older I can think about this.

There is no solid suggestion that Mbappe will be signing for the Reds, but it’s been enough to send some fans crazy in hope more than expectation.

We’d love it, of course, if he is hinting at a move – and we do know that Jurgen Klopp is a huge fan of him – but the transfer fee and wages that it would take to get the deal over the line make it highly unlikely.
