Liverpool should make a move this summer for reported Barcelona target Antoine Griezmann, according to pundit Craig Burley.
The Catalan club did look set to complete the signing of the World Cup winning forward, but it’s now not so certain and the former Chelsea man thinks the Reds should pounce.
“I still think that Antoine Griezmann would be a fantastic addition to Liverpool,” he told EPSN – via the Star. “Bearing in mind how well they did last year and how close they came to Manchester City.
“The quality that he would bring and to have somebody that can rotate with Firmino in that front three would be a fantastic addition.
“I don’t know if that is something that could be done but I think that if they are going to bridge that gap to Manchester City then that is the kind of player that they need to be signing.”
A high-profile signing like Griezmann would be out of character for Liverpool, and with the Reds set to have a quiet summer, as per the Liverpool Echo, I’d be very surprised if anything come of this link.
That being said – the Frenchman would be a great addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad with there being a hole in our team in the shape of a creative midfielder.
Let’s not forget that Griezmann is a big fan of our man Bobby Firmino – I wouldn’t hold my breath, but never say never.
